University Outreach Program
The
ACEER Foundation, in cooperation with West Chester University
of Pennsylvania, offers a comprehensive series of academic
courses and continuing education workshops conducted at ACEER
and associated facilities in both the tropical rainforests
of the Madre de Dios region of southeastern Peru and the cloud
forests near Cusco and Machu Picchu. The goal of the University
Outreach Program is to provide field-based academic experiences
for universities and individual students in a variety of disciplines
related to the neotropics. Undergraduate and graduate credits
are available, as are continuing education units (CEUs) and
continuing medical education units (CMEs) for students and
lifelong learners alike.
Each offering has specific learning objectives and learner
outcomes, but all are designed to provide an experiential
learning environment that will promote a better understanding
of tropical rainforest/cloud forest ecology, local culture
and traditions, resource sustainability, the human impact
on these systems, and strategies for conservation.

The ACEER can provide
experienced Guest Faculty to accompany any university group.
For universities wishing specialized courses or workshops
for their students, a Special Topics option exists. The ACEER
will work with you to design an experience that best meets
your academic needs.
Many ACEER courses and workshops have “open enrollment”
and may be registered for by individuals seeking credit/non-credit
experiences.
For Universities and/or individuals whose home institutions
do not offer academic credit in these areas, or those seeking
CMEs or CEUs, the ACEER has partnered with West Chester University
of Pennsylvania to award such credits. West Chester University,
the largest state-owned university in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania is fully accredited by Middle States Association
to offer undergraduate and graduate credits and CEUs, and
is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education to offer continuing education to physicians.
